Our partners at Darbyshire are a London based picture framer and fine art fabricator. They work with artists, galleries, collectors and museums, both nationally and internationally.

Description

Darbyshire were recently commissioned to create a display unit with protective glass front for this original artwork by world renowned street artist and Dismaland creator Banksy.

The artwork, which was created on an original piece of deteriorated street furniture, and now owned by a private collector was carefully mounted onto the base unit, which features a chemically corroded finish.  A sheet of Anti-Reflective glass protrudes upwards from a channel in the unit to protect the front of the piece.  We worked with the client to create a display solution which is sympathetic to the feel of the artwork, and sympathetic to the original context in which it was made.

Description

To house these artworks by artist Sandra Sashou, Darbyshire opted to use an aluminium tray frame to support an extra thick perspex case which protects the artwork.  The case is fabricated by highly skilled technicians, and this example is a testament to how crystal clear the joins and corners are in our plexi and optium covers.

Description

Darbyshire now makes striking bespoke brass frames, hand shaped by their metal technicians to produce the required face and depth. The corners are joined with a ‘silver soldering’ process, then polished and lacquered to prevent oxidization.
